Labor Day 2009 found the rubber studs at it again in Los Angeles for the 5th edition of the West Coast Rubber Weekend. Once again rubbered-up dudes converged from around the world to enjoy the non-stop rubber events.
Friday night opened with the Meat and Greet Profile Party at the Eagle LA sponsored by Rubberzone.com It was the first chance to don some gear and catch up with old kinky friends and make some new ones. It's also the first opportunity for the contestants to work the crowd for their share of the points awarded by votes from the attendees. This year the Meat and Greet also featured a hugely popular Gear Sale with part of the proceeds benefiting the WCR travel fund.
Saturday was non-stop gear and kicked off with the private reception at Syren/Stockroom complete with free t-shirts, big discounts, vac-bed "demos" and a behind the scenes tour of the leather and latex production shops.
Lubed up with bevies, it was time to lube up for real at the annual slip-a-thon, aka the Slime Pit. Never ones to need too much coaxing, Mikey and L8XBoy were the first ones in and beware any perv who wandered within reach and got pulled in to the mayhem. Squirm from Rubberzone.com donned a bondage surf suit and piled in and was immediately stuffed in all sorts of places with Devil Ducks from Rubbout - Thanks Mitch!
The tuckered out rubber guys finally piled out, hosed off (which was almost as much fun as the pit) and headed off for disco naps before the main attraction - The Full Gear Dungeon Party. This was our second year at this pro dungeon space and we really outdid ourselves. The event was gear dress code enforced and the guys took that to heart with full rubber uniforms, catsuits and industrial gear. L8XDad engineered a seriously steamy mix of euro-industrial dungeon beats for the night. We also broke another barrier this year and included a pan-sexual play space in the front of the dungeon and a men's only space cum darkroom in the warren of rear rooms. The play was non-stop until we sent everyone home happy and sated about 2 AM.
Sunday came a little too early for some guys but by 1 PM everyone was in place at Oil Can Harry's to witness the sashing of the 5th Mr West Coast Rubber. On hand to judge were WCR 2005 Alan Stroik, WCR 2006 Michael O'Connor, WCR 2008 Rubberbuck, MIR 2009 Stéphane Donaldson and head judge American Leatherman Alex Lindsay. Three excellent contestants vied for the honor - Rubberboi, Rubrluvr, and Jeffrey Moline. Event co-producer and Mr Golden Leather 2009 Loren Berthelsen ran the pervs through the paces and when Tallymaster Barry Schwaab delivered the votes under lock and key to Loren's guard sub Michael, the votes revealed that contestant #3, Jeffrey Moline, came out on top with Rubrluvr placing 1st runner up and Rubberboi taking home the 2nd runner up honor.
After the contest we headed off for a celebratory cocktail at the Eagle LA followed by a fantastic Rubber Victory Dinner and then back to the Eagle for more celebrating and general rubber partying. For those pervs up for more fun, and who didn't have to fly back home the next day, there was a Rubber Movie Invasion on Monday afternoon and a final celebration at the Get Your Gear On BBQ and Beer Bust at the Bullet Bar in North Hollywood.
This was the best year ever in terms of number of guys in attendance and the activities and rubber kink factor were over the top thanks to the efforts of the venues and sponsors including, Recon, Priape/Polymorphe, Rubberzone, Rubberdawg, Extreme Restraints, Syren/Stockroom, Eagle LA, Oil Can Harry's and the Bullet Bar. And of course the dedicated volunteers and staff made sure each and every perv was completely sated.
